The Communist Spies Who Harm Asia Will End Up as Monkeys in a Future Zoo
As people head for a new world, they are still blocking the exit, dragging humans backward, and claiming that they stand for the future.
People in the future will look at communist rulers the way we look at monkeys at the zoo today: ridiculous, even pitiful. A person who can go to another planet and look for a new life will find it hard to take seriously some party on Earth announcing that, without its leadership, there is no future.
Here is how communism sells the scam. It turns troubles humans have piled up for a long time into an excuse to seize power. You are poor because capitalism is squeezing you. A crisis proves capitalism has no future. Hand society to the Communist Party, and people will be freed and will have enough. The heaven the Party promises never comes. The price, your freedom, your property, and your obedience, has already been collected by the Party. The Communist Party itself is a cheat who writes checks it does not mean to pay.
AI and the opening of space will weaken this scam, because people will be able to reach the world the Party promises without accepting these terms. Say you have 100,000 dollars. A cheat tells you that if you obey him, he will give you 10 yuan. That is pocket change. He never planned to give you the 10 yuan anyway. The value of the fake deal communism made up falls straight to zero.
Why do these new ways keep showing up? Because capitalism, and feudalism, the old system of lords, give companies a reason to look for new products, new customers, and new places to put money. AI can make research and design cheaper. Robots can cut the labor that building and making things need. Cheaper trips into space make projects off the Earth worth a try. Once settling away from Earth starts to pay its way, the search for growth has new room.
Settlers need energy, homes, farms, and transport. Investors are then willing to pay for the building. Building creates jobs and draws more people in. Families set up house there and have children. A larger community needs more goods and services, and that demand draws the next round of money. Population, production, and the market can grow together, so economic life is no longer stuck with the resources and chances one place already has.
Growth can ease the clash, because there is new wealth to make and new work to go after, so making life better gets easier. You do not have to cheat people, or rob them of what they already own, at every step. Moving adds another choice. A person who cannot get a chance in one society can go take a risk somewhere else, instead of only waiting for the ruler to change, or joining a revolution that promises to rearrange everyone's life.
Different settlements can also be in different ups and downs, the way different countries are. When one region is in a slump, another can still invest and hire, so workers and money have somewhere to go. When one place fails, it gets harder and harder to hold that failure up as proof that the whole human economic order has reached the end.
SpaceX has said in public that its goal is to build a city on Mars that can support itself. That belongs to this effort to look for new possibilities. At the same time, the Communist Party's Global Times once used "Three Starships blew up in a row" as the headline on setbacks in test flights. Starship is the giant rocket SpaceX is testing. The Party's Xinhua has also run articles warning that Starlink threatens the state's sovereignty over the internet, meaning the state's claim that it owns the country's network. Starlink is the satellite setup that lets people get online without going through the local system. Look at this as political control. These reactions show a deeper weak spot. Communication you run yourself, and new places to move to, can weaken the dependence the Party needs in order to stay in charge. And the Party pushes back against the freedom technology gives each person.
So communism faces two failures. The heaven under its rule never comes true. Growth, and a new way out, make its lying promise less and less attractive. Humans will face new clashes. Rulers who still insist that everyone must stay inside their own political fence will look more and more like the zoo monkeys in the title, watched and laughed at by the future they once claimed belonged to them.
